The Black Sea region of Turkey is famous for its emerald green forests. The micro-climates of this fertile area hosts tens of unnamed and more than two hundred endemic plants.  Honey produced in the Anzer Plateau is considered a medicine for many illnesses because of the diversity of its pollen sources.

This part of Turkey was ruled by the Pontus Kingdom for a long time.  It was followed by the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires. The easternmost area was governed by Russia for a short period.  Remnants of all of these civilizations exist throughout the lush landscape.  This area is especially attractive to people who like hiking, nature walks, enjoy experiencing the colorful local population, cuisine, and culture.
